The first Anniversary of hulhumale.org - 2008

In the Beggining

On June16th, 2007 january, the Hulhumale online Community was born - The idea at the time was very simple and much different from what you see now. For few months we continued to provide some basic services and entertainment for our visitors who didn't exceed 200 per day.

Other Remarkable Accomplishments

Our discussions of our accomplishments would never be complete without talking about the Message Board and the new HOCupload .The Gallery has been one of the most popular sections in our forum. In fact, it has been so popular lately. The message board also helped redefine the role that our website has been playing in helping visitors communicate and unite at least online. Helping us discuss issues critical to simple, and also helping us get in touch with each other, and finding new friends; sometimes even acting in the place of MSN and Facebook. Lately and to take things more seriously and provide even more choice for our members, we have added a more advanced UCP and topics to discuss in different topics. The forums have recently become the official way of discussions on the board.

Beside all the above mentioned accomplishments, our forum pioneered in providing many other tools which would simplify communications between visitors from all around the World. Such as a free hosting service made life easier. providing sub domains made our forum popular on the net.

and also, HOC participated in the football competitions and completed the tournament winning the bronze medal, and a mind blowing performance by the Baibala team of HOC made them win the second place. these have been not really the best, but its yet to come from HOC. This year, we aim for more goals and teamHOC, will be there working hard to accomplish them.

Looking ahead to the future, our vision remains the same and so will be our goals. Our forum will continue to work intellectually, thinking of the best ways to serve our online community. Because to continue as being the biggest online community, we need to work even harder.

Beside our online operations, we are looking forward to accomplish even more in real life by helping users get together in special events, and get-togethers. Remember, that your coming to our forum has a lot to do with our success. The more you come, the better this forum will be.

The Truth of Face Book

Facebook ( www.facebook.com) is an online social networking directory that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.

Created and launched in February 2004 by Harvard students Mark Zuckerberg and Chris Hughes, the site began as a network strictly for Harvard University. Two months later, the site expanded to include other Ivy League schools. After that, the college network slowly grew and by the end of 2004, Facebook had registered more than one million users.

Now open to anyone with a valid email address, the site includes members' pictures, biographies, interests and messages, and members can browse freely through open profiles. Members may choose their personal levels of security to prevent strangers from accessing their personal information.

The platform enables anyone, anywhere, to build complete applications that members can choose to use. Applications range from photo sharing to graffiti walls and everything in between.

'Laamu, Gaadhoo - Maldives' On Black

I was on an official trip here. I had just landed with a small airplane at the airport in Gaadhoo. I was met by some local people there who brought me by boat to this Island where I was supposed to meet some colleagues who arrived on another island the day before by boat. This pic was taken while I was waiting for them. Eventually they came and we all went together to meet with the island chief and further with their council of women. The total population of the island is, I am not sure, but i thought we were told it is around 200-300. We were going to asses the impact of the assistance provided to the islanders after the Tsunami hit the island in Dec 2004. The wave swept through the island (had covered it all) but luckily had lost in height (not in power though) by the time it reached the Maldives. The agricultural land was signficantly damaged by the salt and most of the fishing boats were gone. The highest peak in Maldives is about 2m above mean sea level.
